Economic DevelopmentWe provide the energy to get things done in our community.
BEMC is committed to working with local, state, and regional organizations and elected officials to promote healthy economic development.
The goal is to better our service area’s quality of life by creating and retaining jobs, increasing services available to our communities, and building a stable local economy.
Your co-op supports local Chambers of Commerce, community programs, and other productive development efforts. Many of our employees serve on local boards. The community knows it can count on BEMC to help.
Projects like helping secure loan funds for a recent expansion of Dosher Hospital services, supporting the construction and operation of a large correctional facility in Columbus County, as well as providing meeting space, supporting local events like the Home & Garden Show, the many festivals in our area, and the Brunswick County Parade of Homes all contribute to the economic well-being of our communities.
Our affiliate company, Rural Consumer Services Corporation, was set up specifically to facilitate economic development activities.
