TORNADO DAMAGE TO BRUNSWICK COUNTY – FEBRUARY 16, 2021
2/17/2021 10 a.m. – Crews are back to work this morning, continuing restoration efforts. We expect to have power restored to most of our members today, with the exception of those who experienced structural damage in the hardest-hit areas around Ocean Ridge and Old Shallotte Rd. We are collaborating with county officials to determine the locations with a safety concern, going house by house. Once safety inspections are complete, we can re-energize the area. The next update will be at 3 p.m. today.
2/16/2021 UPDATE 5 p.m. – Crews made great progress today as we currently have 1,149 members without power, down from around 35,000 after last night’s storm. Restoration efforts will continue until power is safely restored to all members. Thank you for your patience and especially the kind words of encouragement offered by so many.
